Crow Wing County Fair fun!

It is a sad realization, but there are just under two months until I crown a new Miss Brainerd Lakes. This year has been quite the journey. There have been easy parts and there have been hard parts, but at the end of the day I see that this year has been nothing short of incredible. I can't wait for another girl to experience the kind of year I have had!

A week and a half ago, I volunteered at the Northern Plaid Festival and 5K. This event benefited the Brighter Days Foundation, which has quickly become a program I have grow to love and support. The goal of the Brighter Days Foundation is to make a day better for a child who is struggling with a disability or is terminally ill. I was happy to volunteer my time to such a phenomenal program!

One week ago today, my sister queens and I kicked off the Crow Wing County Fair by welcoming everyone to our incredible community at the Opening Ceremonies. We then had the opportunity to walk around and spend time with those in attendance.

Day 2 of the Fair began with an old car and tractor parade. I was able to begin the parade with Tom, a Fair board member. Once again, Molly and I were able to walk around, sign autographs, and see the fair booths.

Day 3 was Senior Recognition Day. Molly and I were honored to help with the Outstanding Senior Recognition ceremony and serve cake and lemonade to those in attendance.

Day 4 was spent judging the pre-teen, teen, and open talent shows with my sister queen, Lauren. I was blown away by the talent displayed onstage and it was extremely difficult to pick a winner in each category, but we somehow managed to do it. Plus we were lucky enough to announce the winners who will represent Crow Wing County at the State Fair!

Our fifth and final day at the Fair was spent at the Grandstand welcoming the old tractor parade and speaking about our incredible year as Miss Brainerd Lakes and Miss Brainerd Lakes' Outstanding Teen. We were also able to volunteer at Kids Kountry, which is an interactive exhibit that teaches kids about agriculture.

The fun didn't stop there as Saturday night Molly and I headed to Leader, MN for the famous Pig Races! This is a Miss Brainerd Lakes tradition and I was so excited to keep the tradition alive! Leader, MN has a population of 7 but the Pig Races are always packed full with people from all areas of Minnesota. If you have yet to visit, make sure to get up there before Labor Day :)

Yup. I kissed a pig :)

Today, I was able to speak and play piano to a group of women from the Brainerd Lakes Area who have kindly supported me in my year as Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen 2012 and Miss Brainerd Lakes 2013. They have graciously provided countless scholarship dollars to further my education and have been fantastic supporters.

Much love,
Bailey
