February festivities!

It amazes me how fast time truly flies by. February is almost over which means March, then Miss Minnesota Orientation and the Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen pageant on April 5th! I can't believe Miss Minnesota is almost here and that the Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen pageant will mark 2 years since I was crowned Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen 2012. Seriously, where does the time go?!

I attended the final local, Miss Chain of Lakes, which means that the Miss Minnesota Class of 2014 is officially complete! In June, I will compete with 24 other young women for the chance to become Miss Minnesota 2014. It is such an honor to be a part of this select group of women! I cannot wait for orientation!

I was then a special guest at the Brainerd Lakes Area Brighter Days Foundation Annual Gala at the Legacy at Cragun's. It was such an honor to be there, as I wore a beautiful pearl necklace and bracelet set to be raffled off at the end of the night. Brighter Days is an organization that gives terminally ill children (and many times families) all sorts of things to make them feel better. Anything from iPads to trips to Mall of America to books to anything in between! What's great is that they help children and their families in the Brainerd Lakes Area and we got to see those children and how Brighter Days has helped them.

The next day I was lucky enough to have a photo shoot with the official Miss Brainerd Lakes photographer, Gretchen Ennis. Her photos have always been beautiful, and I'm beyond excited with the final product! I highly recommend her for all of your photo needs :) Here's a little sneak peak:

Last weekend was a busy weekend in Nisswa! Friday night I attended the Miss Nisswa pageant. It's always so great to be in my hometown and see people I don't get to see as often as I would like because of being at college. It was a great night, and a huge congratulations goes to Ellie, the new Miss Nisswa 2014, who plans on attending Bethel University next fall! So happy to welcome another "queen" to Bethel's campus and I'm excited to see what her year has in store :)

Saturday was the Nisswa Jubilee parade. The weather turned out to be very nice, but snowed the minute the parade started. It made for a beautiful parade route though! I can't tell you how lucky I feel to be referred to as Miss Brainerd Lakes. It's something I can't describe and something I don't think anyone can really connect to except the Miss Brainerd Lakes' that have gone before me.

On another note, many of you know that I've been really working hard on getting healthy. I've lost 10 pounds in the process and have never felt better! But for Valentines Day, I decided to really treat myself and get the hottest wings I could get at Applebees :) Last week, I had a dream I was eating an unlimited supply of waffles and hot wings, so I thought it was time for me to take a little break and reward myself for all the hard work! (I'm not sure why I had a dream about waffles... I certainly don't crave them as much as hot wings!)

Thanks to all for making my year so great! This year would not have been possible without my incredibly supportive family and friends. I so appreciate everything you do for me :)
